JobSummary: The Inventory Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring DC product is handled efficiently, timely and accurately to support fast and reliable shipments to stores and ecommerce customers. This is accomplished by troubleshooting obstacles created by vendors, mismatched data or warehouse limitation. This role partners cross functionally with the DC warehouse teams, DC Operations leadership, and DC Transportation and Logistics to drive efficient processes for the Distribution Center(s). The Inventory Operations Specialist partners to proactively identify, create and implement processes, procedures, and tools that maximize labor efficiency, reduce costs, and improve speed while maintaining accuracy. Their tasks and responsibilities contribute to the overall DC cycle time goals, increasing speed to market and supporting a dependable and reliable distribution process by directly working and observing our warehouse operation.

WhatYouDo:


Partners directly with our Inventory Operations Managers and DC Operations leaders to maintain a continuity of workflow in our Distribution Centers.
Identifies opportunities, makes recommendations, and collaborates effectively to create or modify the necessary tools to recommend actions as needed to ensure a seamless flow of goods through our DCs.
Proactively reviews space constraints and partners directly with DC leadership on action plans.
Proactively reviews scheduled deliveries for outbound cross dock opportunities.
Reviews inventory in floor locations for outbound activity, partnering to keep our receiving docks current.
Drives consistency in the handling of products between DCs.
Communicates newly introduced products and partners to establish best practices for bookseller training.
Contributes to our B&N Vendor Operational Guidelines to drive compliance and establish procedures for vendor best practices with gains in efficiency.
Works with DC Transportation and Logistics to prioritize inbound deliveries during high volume times.
Facilitates efficiencies in receiving/shipping of DC inventory.
Provides support with large scale/special orders and projects to ensure greatest fulfillment and highest customer satisfaction.
Meet set standards and goals within each project set by project owner.

Working knowledge of our retail store operations.
Advanced knowledge of internal store systems/tools; IM2, VOS, IOS, etc.
Strong communication and analytical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Access).
Bachelors degree in a related field and/or 3-5 years of working experience in retail operations.
Knowledge of transportation, retail supply chain, warehouse operations, or merchandising is a plus.
Well-organized and manages time efficiently.
