Hermann Services is looking for a Driver Manager to join our company located in Monmouth Junction, NJ.
The
Driver Manager is responsible for training and assessing drivers and their qualifications as per local, state, and federal laws. The Driver Manager shall coordinate with drivers, staff, and management to hold meetings to resolve issues, AND develop amiable genuine and supportive relations with drivers in a professional manner and collaborate with other departments to provide the tools and work environment necessary for all employees to excel at their respective positions.
Responsibilities:
1) Maintain and practice use of the knowledge of/to:
The principles and methods for moving goods including the relative costs and benefits
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, including the customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Coordinate with drivers to ensure timely pickup and delivery
Arrange for periodic maintenance of equipment as necessary
Maintain costs and profits within budget
Keep track of driver hours and miles in coordination with Load Planners to achieve maximum productivity
Aid in cost cutting through initiatives
Monitor performance as it relates to driver incidents, equipment failure, vehicle breakdowns, and other potential service disruptions.
2) Maintain Service Rates in accordance with Company Expectations:
On-Time Service Rate: 99.0%
Ensure drivers observe all safety regulations and all training methods are adequate and effective.
Ensure dispatch protocols are compliant with both client and company policies and procedures.
Demonstrate proficiency and compliance with the use of administrative procedures and systems such as:
Transportation Management System (Dispatching, order processing, etc. in TMS) policies & procedures
Office Software (proficient use of various programs in Microsoft and other business applications)
Satellite tracking & communications Software
3) Plan, organize and manage the workload to include:
Daily driver communication
Dispatch drivers on previous, current, and future assignments
Updating TMS orders
Providing ETA on pickups and deliveries
Tracking and Tracing
Responsible for rail billing, tracking and tracing shipments, and communicating with customers and dray partners for our Intermodal business
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Degree in business or related field preferred
Proficient in Excel & Word
Familiar with CDL, DOT, and HOS standards
Familiar with Federal, State, and local transportation and intermodal regulations
Minimum of 3 yearsâ experience in the transportation industry preferred
