Position Summary:
The candidate should have a minimum of five or more years of experience within the purchasing sector of the food and beverage industry. Preferably with the previous protein buying experience. This individual will be an essential part of our purchasing team, assisting us in procuring the finest ingredients available! The individual will need to be comfortable with negotiation tactics as well as the execution of purchasing functions.
This position assumes full buying responsibility for protein commodity product lines. Oversees the purchasing, pricing, service level, shrink and turns of items to meet customer needs and profitability objectives.
Responsibilities:
Creating and maintaining strong vendor relationships/negotiating with vendors concerning forecasting, availability, pricing, freight (including international), and terms /conditions of sale.
Audit the portfolio of items purchased and uphold item maintenance practices.
Become familiar with our analytics tools to get ahead of demand trends and maintain optimal inventory levels.
Coordinate with internal departments to provide optimum cross-functional planning and execution of purchasing functions.
Manage/resolve the setup and maintenance of vendor information in the company software system.
Input data and pricing into the company software system, as well as keep all records up to date.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have a minimum of 5+ years of protein commodity purchasing, pricing, and inventory control in a distribution environment.
Requires an in-depth knowledge of branded products with an emphasis on protein commodity product lines.
Must have familiarity with company operations including available products, pricing, and promotion programs.
