The Father Center of N.J. (formerly UIH Family Partners) is a nationally recognized pioneer in the emerging field of fatherhood programs. The Father Center (TFC) has helped “fathers become Dads” for nearly 20 years.

Brief Summary of the Job: The Communications Coordinator will create marketing content and material to grow the brand of the Father Center of New Jersey and attract potential funding support, while also engaging in strategy and consistent execution of media relations, social media, event marketing, and other integrated marketing initiatives. This position reports to the Executive Director and partners with the Associate Executive Director and Program Managers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Communication Responsibilities

  • Write and distribute press releases

  • Develop and implement marketing and communications campaigns and strategies and monitor their success through key performance indicators

  • Determine strategic communications campaigns that will help further organizational goals

  • Create internal communications protocols and initiatives that will foster employee moral

  • Oversee the creation of marketing and communications material to ensure consistency with the organization's brand, including website copy, program flyers and annual reports

  • Promote and represent the organization at events and press conferences

  • Reach out to influencers, media, press and beyond to secure story placements on local, regional and national level

  • Ensure website is kept fully up to date with dynamic content, media and the latest tools to engage website visitors

  • Should have a general knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.

  • Develop a marketing schedule that in accordance with key fundraising initiatives and organizational wide programs

  • Develop relationships with key community, nonprofit, government and corporate stakeholders



Social Media Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day management of campaigns and ensure brand consistency

  • Facilitate scaling brand and company awareness through various social media channels

  • Create and implement social media strategies monthly

  • Supervise all aspects of social media interaction between customers and the organization, and ensure a positive customer service experience

  • Create actionable plans to both grow and maintain followers through popular social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and LinkedIn

  • Ensure progress on all platforms by using analytical tools such as Google Analytics and others

  • Increase social media engagement and track success

  • Should have a general knowledge of social media management tools, such as Hootsuite or Monday.com.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Impeccable writing ability; excellent oral communication skills; strong computer proficiency; solid media relations skills; strong ability to design marketing materials; good familiarity with CRM systems and event marketing expertise

Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of constituencies and relationships; perform other duties as required to accomplish goals Should have knowledge on how to create content through WordPress and basic HTML and CSS skills. Demonstrated experience and ability in analytical research and report writing.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications. Must have at least 2 years of experience in social media content creation or similar role. Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and other social media best practices. Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics. Good understanding of social media KPIs. Excellent multitasking skills. Critical thinker and problem-solving skills. Team player. Good time-management skills. Great interpersonal and communication skills. Spanish speaking a plus.

The Father Center of New Jersey operates with a trauma informed and trauma responsive approach to our clients as well as our staff and organization at large. New hires will be expected to utilize a trauma sensitive lens to engage and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues. To that end the Father Center of New Jersey has adopted the Sanctuary Model as the framework to ensure organizational cohesion and staff alignment with the mission, vision and values of the organization.


All new hires will be trained in the model and will be expected to uphold the tenants and principles of the model. It is the expectation that all staff who works for TFCNJ become proficient in the practices of the model, utilize the tools and language of the model to ensure that we focus on the effects of trauma on our clients and avoid re- traumatizing clients as well as to avoid burn out and maintain a n emotionally healthy workforce and work place.

New hires will learn the values of the model called the 7 commitments and will be held accountable through supervision and via evaluation to upholding the commitments and using them to support their work and support the healing process of the clients we serve. New hires will be trained in the language of SELF and will be expected to engage in the language and use the framework to navigate through the complexities and stressful areas of the work we do.

Yearly Salary: $41,000
