Job Opening: Non-Profit Swimming Facility Manager
Overview
Originally incorporated as a swim club in 1928, the Hopewell Quarry was purchased in August 2021 by Friends of Hopewell Quarry- a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving this historic resource as protected open space and, through it serving the public in perpetuity.
The Hopewell Quarry has an opening for an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will be responsible for working closely with the Friends of Hopewell Quarry to operate the Hopewell Quarry as a public and sustainable active recreation facility. The candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, communicate with the staff, analyze and resolve problems, use independent judgment, and deal successfully with visitors. This is a hands-on position which requires spending most work time during the summer outdoors as well as some lifting and minor facilities maintenance and improvement.
Hours

Full-time (40 hours/week) Spring, Summer and Fall, including nights, weekends and holidays

Duties and Responsibilities

Market the Hopewell Quarry to the local community, schools and summer camps with an emphasis on underserved populations.
Coordinate the summer camp programs. Ensure that camps and other recreational programs are run safely and with a high level of satisfaction.
Hire, train and manage personnel including volunteers, student assistants and summer staff.
Supervise safety and operational policies for staff, visitors, camps and public programs.
Ensure facilities and equipment are properly maintained and operated to support current and long-term goals of the Hopewell Quarry.
Oversee the day to day management of the pool, quarry lake, facilities and grounds
Maintains a strong, open working relationship with the board, operations committee and development committee
Fundraising and implementing an annual giving campaign, grant writing experience a plus.
Knowledge of standards and best practices for nonprofits.
Plan and execute innovative events and initiatives that support the community, including markets, food trucks, open houses, wellness and educational programs
Work closely with the township to ensure proper permits and certifications are granted
Schedule/supervise and work closely with contractors on facility updates
Work closely with partnering organizations
Prepare and issue press releases, manage social media, and update the website
Manage and maintain quarry snack bar
Financial and banking duties
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Certified pool manager or willing to acquire certification
Lifeguard and CPR certification a plus
3-5 years of experience in managing an active recreational facility
Demonstrated people management skills
Enthusiastic, well organized and resourceful
Proficient in use of MicroSoft Word and Excel, Canva, or equivalent design program, familiar with database management, social media and website management
Able to work weekend and evenings, especially in the summer and year-round as needed
Has worked in a small non-profit organization, wearing many hats
Community-minded
Ability to juggle multiple projects
