Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states.
We are in search of an experienced Full-Time Maintenance Worker in Somerset County, NJ to repair the residences of the individuals that are supported by our organization. The Maintenance Technician maintains residential homes, facilities, and vehicles. You are responsible for repairing issues that arise, completing regular maintenance plans, and working with local management to contract external contractors.
Starting pay is $18.00/hour
Responsibilities
Develop a schedule of basic maintenance tasks
Complete required maintenance tasks in a timely manner
Ensure repairs are made timely in a way that is safe and in compliance with the local laws and regulations
Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and structural components including appliances, fans, lights, flooring, carpets, paneling, doors, etc.
Perform basic maintenance tasks including painting, spackling, and basic electrical or plumbing work
Advise management when an outside contractor may be necessary
Review contractor estimates to ensure they accurately reflect the required repairs and reasonable job costs
Follow OSHA guidelines for safety and the proper handling of tools
Cooperate with audits, inspections, and investigations
Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED with three years of maintenance experience
Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record
Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
Ability to work safely with hands and power tools
Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent time management skills
