Overview:
LSAC is a Non-Profit and Volunteer organization devoted to furthering quality, access, and fairness in law school admission by providing the core products and services that candidates and law schools depend on in the United States and around the world. LSAC promotes quality, access, and equity in law and education worldwide by supporting individuals enrollment journeys and providing pre-eminent assessment, data, and technology services.
Summary of Position:

The Director of Assessment Development is a highly experienced manager and assessment content developer who is responsible for coordinating and managing operations for the Assessment Development group, including the management of Test Developers and related operational development work. This role is responsible for ensuring that the entire assessment development team is meeting the goals set forth by the Vice President for Learning and Assessment and for ensuring innovation, efficiency, fairness, and accountability.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. The individual employed in this position will be responsible for the following:

Designs, develops, manages, and evaluates processes and procedures about development of LSAT and related assessment content, to include item writing, contract management, and related activities, such as development of item writer guides and the design and development of item banking processes.
Manages the activities and schedules of Assessment Development staff for the development of test items.
Evaluates and checks the quality and quantity of all test development-related products and activities, including DEI, accessibility, fairness, and innovation activities.
Collaborates with Assessment Sciences staff, evaluates item statistics for LSAT test content and uses item statistics and supplemental information to provide constructive feedback to test development staff.
Monitors the team operating budget in collaboration with the Director of Assessment Sciences.
Collaborates on or manages communications about LSAT content quality and value of the LSAT to various constituencies.
Makes both internal and external presentations regarding the LSAT and the work of the Assessments team.
Assures prompt preparation and delivery of all required materials and outputs.
Manages operational test content activities in collaboration with other Assessment leads.
Manages and optimizes multiple-choice item pools; manages LSAT writing prompts.
Collaborates with Assessment Sciences on validity studies and other test performance analyses.
Supervises test information activities, including the development of all test-related materials, including test preparation content and any test-related information distributed to law schools, prelaw advisors, candidates, and other stakeholders.
Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including the preparation of all required test-related data, reports, and disclosures.
Manages or participates in policy decisions regarding LSAT test administration and security.
Manages or participates in responding to challenges of operational LSAT items and inquiries about test preparation materials.
Participates in test-related research as appropriate and implements policy or work changes related to research findings.

Required Experience and Education:




Masters degree in philosophy, linguistics, English, cognition, learning, or a related discipline involving strong reading, reasoning, and analytical skills or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully complete all essential functions is required.
Five or more years of demonstrated experience in the management of an educational testing program, or equivalent management experience is required.
Management experience with subject matter experts is required.



Preferred Experience and Education:

Doctorate or doctoral-level coursework is preferred, as is ten or more years of related experience.
Business operations experience is preferred.



Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has significant supervisory responsibilities including principal and managerial staff.



Position Type:

The LSAC standard business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. ET. While these are the standard office hours for LSAC, as an exempt employee, the employee will be expected to work the hours necessary to satisfactorily complete their assignments in a responsible and professional manner.




Travel:




Occasional travel is expected for this position.




Work Environment:




This job operates in a remote and professional office environment. Whether remote or in-office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
