The Office of Human Resources is seeking candidates for a Human Resources Business Partner - Leaves.
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) performs a range of human resources related functions in the Benefits area. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Benefits, the Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for providing support to the benefits unit and employees. This position administers leave of absence programs. The Human Resources Business Partner provides counseling to faculty and staff on all health and wellness and ancillary benefits. The Human Resources Business Partner provides support to the campus community, educates, coordinates and communicates all types of benefits administered by the College. This position assists with updating communication related to policies and guidelines on benefit leave related programs; and serves as a resource for Human Resources and the college community with regard to leave of absence as well as benefits eligibility.
Main Responsibilities: Leave Administration

Serves as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all requests related to leave of absence programs.
Reviews, interprets and approves leave requests including but not limited to: Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), New Jersey Family Leave Act (NJFLA), and other types of leaves.
Responds to employee and department inquiries regarding leave plans and programs and other absence management related functions.
Identifies and researches different issues related to leave of absence plans. Works closely with the Office of Accessibility Resources to transition employees approaching end of leave periods to support the interactive process, including return to work.
Appropriately handles controversial employee issues with discretion, and acts as a liaison between employee and applicable third party administrators.
Serves as a backup for workers compensation related matters. May assist with processing claims, reimbursements and communications with the State of New Jersey.
Determines leave entitlement and other leave of absence programs to employees.

Covid Leave Administration

Processes cases and coordinates assistance for faculty and staff impacted by COVID-19.
Facilitate the communication of isolation and quarantine periods based upon vaccination status (phone calls/emails).
Monitors the status by updating trackers for both Human Resources and the Health Services.
Update communicates return to campus protocols.
Processes and monitors new hire COVID vaccination records.
Process all exemption requests.

Includes but not limited to administration of other infectious diseases such as Monkeypox Cases - Follow CDC guidelines in conjunction TCNJ policies, state and federal laws.
Sabbatical/Other Leave Type Administration

Calculation of medical and pension premiums.
Coordinates leave programs as well as ancillary benefits such as FSA/ benefit eligibility such as medical insurance.
Provides leave information to other benefit team members to ensure pension administration and other premiums are calculated accurately.
Works with Academic Affairs to determine Sabbatical approvals, updates employee records to reflect leave status and collaborates with payroll to ensure compensation accuracy.
Monitors employee status in HRIS and makes appropriate changes as needed in HRIS.

Onboarding and Offboarding Employee Consults

Meets with prospective hires and new hires to discuss benefit programs and eligibility.
Plans and executes benefits offboarding strategies, coordinates the offboarding process.

Miscellaneous

Serves as a backup to the benefits team to perform data entry, works on special projects as needed.
Works closely with payroll and/or finance to coordinate accurate deductions of premiums and deductions associated with leaves of absence.
Maintains confidential files and tracking documentation related to leaves in accordance with HIPAA.

Knowledge, Skill & Ability

Strong Experience in one or more areas of Human Resources directly related to the job functions or a master's degree in Human Resources.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to effectively communicate with a cross section of the campus community.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree.
Three years of experience in one or more areas of Human Resources directly related to the job functions. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis.
A Master's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
A Ph.D or Ed.D degree may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
