Position Summary

The Senior Director, People and Culture Communications, is responsible for creating the strategic communications supporting the Bristol-Myers Squibb People Strategy, inclusive of company culture/values, in alignment with HR and enterprise objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Creates internal and external communications plans and activities to engage target audiences around the BMS People Strategy.
Drives employee engagement through strategic communications and change activities inclusive of internal and external channels that focuses on sharing the story of BMS and its people-focused achievements, People Strategy, company culture/values and other topics to support the company as a great place to work.
Builds evidence through communications for the companys People Strategy, company culture/values, employee experience, learning and other key topics supporting BMS as an employer of choice.
Builds corporate reputation internally and externally through all people-focused communications.
Supports CHRO and leads HRLT communications.
Brings new HR brand to life, sharing HRs narrative with HR and all colleagues.
Lead HR to HR communications.
Guides HR thought leadership opportunities.
Develops and leads programs in support of the people and culture communications strategy with a consistent, compelling narrative for publication on internal and external channels.
Coordinates as a strategic partner between HR and Corporate Affairs on change and HR-related milestones, in such areas as company culture/values, employee experience/employer brand and employee learning.
Provides oversight for the development and delivery of an editorial strategy to support the companys People Strategy initiatives, ensuring alignment across leadership and all channels.
Monitors external social media suggesting trending topics where CHRO could share a perspective, in line with BMS positioning, and when appropriate/needed, actively respond to all channel inputs with a specific focus on the People Strategy and company values.
Leads the coordination and ensure alignment with People and Business Resource Groups to ensure a cohesive narrative about the purpose and goals of these groups.
Partners with Purpose Communications team to ensure the companys Global Diversity and Inclusion Council priorities are represented in people and culture communications.
Establish and oversee the measurement framework to actively monitor and evaluate risks/issues, track performance of responses and analyze events.
Establish and manage the annual corporate budget in a cost-effective manner including partnerships with suppliers and vendors.


Requirements:

15+ years of professional experience in employee communications in Pharmaceuticals or other highly regulated industry.
Bachelors or Masters degree in a related field. Change management certification a plus.
Strong leadership of and collaboration with internal team members and agency support.
Proven experience designing and executing communications strategies in coordination with business partners in support of enterprise priorities. Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, content creation, channel strategy and digital/social media best practices, including how to optimize content delivery across channels and audiences.
Experience working with strategic external communications, including thought leadership, earned media and issues/crisis communications a plus.
Proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with team members and agency resources across business units, functional departments, geographies and disciplines through clear communication. Superior written and interpersonal communications skills. Strong presentation and facilitation skills; ability to engage with and persuade wide variety of audiences.
Proven experience successfully managing and leading roles with significant breadth and complexity.
High comfort interacting, building trust and persuading key stakeholders, including internal contacts, media and other influencers, community organizations and professional associations.
Overall high level of influence, accountability, responsibility, and ability to influence at the senior level.
Proven experience working in a matrixed environment and operate within a complex, fast-paced and changing environment.
