Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Employee Relations Coordinator for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to a supervisor /manager within Employee Services, is responsible for administering complex HR functions, and act as liaison to Payroll & Timekeeping and OneSource for Leaves and Benefits.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Staff recruitment, benefits administration, payroll, RIAS/HCM administration, and administration of collective negotiations agreements and University policies, for a diverse staff of approximately 3,200 employees.
Assists with resolution of routine and non-routine issues that arise in the daily department HR operations. This requires an understanding of state and federal laws, University policies and procedures,.
Executes employment processes in a confidential manner to include background checks, physical exams, offer letters and onboarding.
Manages administration of the following systems: HRIS, Timekeeping, I-9 records, Rutgers Onboarding and Recruitment System (ROCS) and the Absence Reporting System (ARS) for the Institutional Planning & Operations division.

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing.
Certifications/Licenses
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid drivers license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good communication skills and computer literacy.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; commitment to excellent customer service and the ability to deal with a diverse staff and a wide variety of situations with discretion and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Timekeeping systems, Personnel Systems and Work Order Systems highly preferred.
Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to employment and employee benefits preferred as well as familiarity with union agreements.
