PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Home Care Aide is a paraprofessional who under a client's specific Plan of Care provides personal care and homemaker support services on an intermittent long-term care basis for the sick, frail, and/or disabled individual to support a safe and healthy home environment. The HCA III works for the VNA under the professional supervision of a Registered Nurse. The duties of the HCA III are planned, assigned, and supervised by the professional nurse to meet the client/patient and family situation. The HCA III is qualified to provide care to patients participating in the Medicare Home Health or Medicare Hospice benefit.
Qualifications:

License or certification and and/or pass a competency test is designated by the agency
Maintenance of 12 hours of approved in-service attendance annually.


High School diploma


Ability to bend, lift 50 pounds

SPECIAL SKILLS

Friendly, tactful personality, with a sincere interest in caring for elderly or disabled individuals; maturity and capacity to work well under stress.
Sound judgment when dealing with elderly or disabled individuals who have physical, mental, or emotional challenges and the ability to provide necessary supportive services to bed-ridden individuals.

Duties of a Home Care Aide
The duties of a home health aide dont require medical training. They do, however, require state-approved health training, such as in how to take vital signs, provide basic care, infection control, and emergency procedures; thats how a home health aide (HHA) differs from a personal care aide (PCA).

A home health aides duties may include:
Helping with personal activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
Light housekeeping, such as doing laundry, washing dishes, and changing the bed linens
Shopping for groceries
Planning, preparing, or serving meals
Providing transportation to doctors appointments
Helping with using the toilet
Monitoring and documenting a clients condition, including checking vital signs or recording how much they ate
Giving medication reminders

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $13.50 - $15.00 per hour
