Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy & Issues Management, the person in this role will develop BMS global issues intelligence strategy.

As part of the Corporate Affairs team, this individual will establish an enterprise approach to integrating news trend analysis, social media listening, stakeholder mapping, and other forms of primary and secondary research into insight reports and strategic recommendations for leadership.

The role requires an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for our patient-centric mission, and proven ability to build a global data science and analytics strategy, lead teams, and translate data-driven insights into actionable strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a global strategy and implementation plan for creating a global issues intelligence center of excellence that will deliver actionable insights to BMS leadership across the enterprise.
Establish quantitative and qualitative issue intelligence models that will comprise the basis of BMS' enterprise issues management strategy with emphasis on identifying potential opportunities and risks.
Create an integrated strategy for incorporating diverse research, analytics, and social media listening approaches that will enable the enterprise to identify and track potential opportunities and risks.
Oversee development of proactive and reactive data-driven strategic communications recommendations and deliver briefings to senior BMS executives.
Develop strategic methodologies, based on emerging technologies and best practices, for producing evidence-based insights and actionable recommendations to BMS leadership through news trend analyses, social media listening, and stakeholder mapping.
Establish standardized issue analysis strategies to ensure global enterprise readiness and proactive positioning.
Develop and execute strategies for gathering critical information that informs the organization's issues intelligence strategy, and collaborate with colleagues across BMS to build strong relationships and effectively communicate insights.
Develop analytics-based strategies to support the enterprise's stakeholder mapping capabilities and incorporate novel strategies into issues intelligence protocols.
Brief senior executives on key findings and recommendations based on issues intelligence findings and conclusions.
Manage a team of issue intelligence professionals and ensure timely completion and delivery of analytics packages that meet and exceed established standards for quality and excellence.
Create a formalized analytics and issues and intelligence training strategy to ensure team members are highly proficient in BMS' proprietary approach to issues intelligence and analytics.
Continually assess the effectiveness of issues intelligence strategies and techniques, and develop new strategies, models, and protocols to ensure BMS is continually at the forefront of predictive analytics innovation.


Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors degree required.
7 to 10 years research, social listening and data analytics experience in the pharmaceutical industry, or similar regulated industry.
Demonstrated ability to architect and manage news and social media listening programs, including development of analytics models, creating operating procedures and escalation protocols, and training/onboarding teams.
Proven ability to extract and cogently communicate relevant insights from news and social listening data, and deliver actionable recommendations to inform communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to clearly and concisely present data through written narratives, visualizations, and presentation decks for stakeholders at all levels.
Experience with forensic analysis of a corporate or industry issues trajectory through news and social media.
Demonstrable experience with stakeholder mapping aided by social media analytics.
Proficiency with a wide array of monitoring, listening and research platforms with strong understanding of how to use data and research to drive planning.
Demonstrated ability to write project scopes, adhere to timelines, and manage internal teams and external communication agencies.
Ability to independently manage and deliver abstract, challenging projects.
Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of Power BI or Tableau is a plus
Polling, focus group, and other primary research design and management experience is a plus.
Calm and cool under pressure. Attention to detail is critical.
Proven ability to think strategically, listen and learn proactively, take initiative, and constantly seek ways to innovate and do things better.
Able to achieve results and to operate within a complex, fast-paced and changing environment.
