Position SummaryThe Environmental Services Porter performs a wide range of cleaning, floor care and laundry services on the main campus and other Medford Leas properties while utilizing established universal precautions and following department procedures; Accepts indoor or outdoor assignments as requested; Consistently demonstrates a positive approach to assignments and demonstrates positive interaction with others.
Core Responsibilities

Performs isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures.
Clean floors; includes sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.
Clean carpets; includes vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing and disinfecting. Removes dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
Cleans hallways, stairways and elevators.
Cleans vacant rooms as assigned.
Performs leaf and debris clean-up in walkways.
Window washing within all common areas of the facility including walkways.
Performs spring and fall cleaning in residential apartments including moving of furniture and appliances to clean behind and underneath items. Turns mattresses, cleans windows and any and all heavy duty cleaning that may be required.
Responsible for heavy trash removal from all inside buildings including the Medical and Assisted Living units.
Assumes primary responsibility for loading and unloading washers and dryers when working in the Laundry. Picks up soiled laundry and delivers clean linen carts to floors.
Follows Resident Rights policies at all times to include knocking before entering a resident room/apartment; honoring the residents personal and property rights and informing resident when it is necessary to move his/her personal possessions during cleaning procedures.
Sprays for bugs and set traps for rodents
Prevents the spread of infection through proper handling, storage, washing and transporting.
Identifies and reports any malfunctions in any equipment.
Maintains confidentiality of information regarding employees and residents. Ensures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.
Follows proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants and solutions used for cleaning. Refers to manufacturers instructions when necessary.
Ensures that an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies to perform daily tasks is maintained on utility cart and within housekeeping closets.
Adheres to all attendance, compliance, mandatory training, regulatory and safety standards, including the Code of Conduct; as well as the organizations policies and procedures covering Privacy and Security in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED, or a combination of school and applicable work experience will be considered
Must be able to read, write and speak in English
1-3 Years of environmental services experience is preferred.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive performance feedback.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions, particularly with respect to the mixing of cleaning compounds, liquids, disinfecting solutions, etc.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

Must possess manual dexterity and physical agility for up to 95% of the time;
In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the Environmental Services Porter must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged periods, vacuum, sweep, mop, push or pull carts, stoop, bend, kneel, carry, and climb stairs and ladders.
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Duties will be performed within all areas of the facility. Moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule cleaning activities with supervisory approval.
Duties may be performed on the nursing units as well as within residents apartments.
Works outdoors during all seasons in a variety of weather conditions.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.

License/Regulatory Requirements

Must obtain all required annual industry related / regulatory immunizations (including completion of the annual TB Assessment) and provide documentation of same.
Must complete mandatory training as required

Pay: $15.00 - $16.50 per hour
