The Human Services unit seeks executive directors for the Children, Youth, and Families (CYF) Division and the Education and Employment Division (EED). The executive director has responsibility for overseeing the supervision, management, and development of staff in the division. The executive director reports to the managing director of the division and works in collaboration with other Human Services unit leaders to further the priorities and strategic direction of the unit. The executive director supervises the leaders of the divisions five functions: Data Analytics; Learning and Strategy; Operations and Project Management; Research and Evaluation; and Surveys and Data Collection.
Responsibilities include:

Establish a sense of community and shared experience in the division, engage with staff, seek staff input, and foster high staff morale
Enhance and maintain management structures

Ensure that division approaches to staff development and management align with the priorities and strategic direction of the HS unit and Mathematica, including client experience; diversity, equity, and inclusion; technology transformation; and innovation
Oversee the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of staff development approaches, training plans, and career pathways across the division
Oversee the execution and continuous improvement of processes to assign staff to projects and proposals
Facilitate and promote the ability to work across divisions and across functions
Partner with Human Resources (HR) in the ongoing improvement and implementation of performance reviews, compensation processes, and other corporate HR initiatives

Develop and manage function leads

Supervise and support the development of the function leads in the division and other senior staff
Develop a high performing, collaborative team among the function leads that works effectively across both Human Services divisions with clear expectations, support, mentoring, regular feedback, and accountability
Collaborate with the function leads in the development of supervisors

Oversee staff recruitment

Propose new positions and recruiting targets to meet the priorities and strategic direction of the division and unit through coordinating with function leads and account leaders
Oversee recruiting activities in the division in collaboration with HR

Support strategy, business growth and diversification, and innovation

Engage with human services account leaders to understand area strategies and support those strategies through staff development and management and fostering thought leadership

Support the function leads in the development and execution of plans for growing and diversifying work aligned with Human Services strategy and building staff capacity to meet client needs

Promote coordination and collaboration between function leads and account leaders
Support the development and fostering of innovations in approaches, processes, and technology adoption

Contribute to leadership of the Human Services unit and Mathematica

Serve on the leadership team for the Human Services unit; contribute to the development and implementation of Human Services initiatives
Collaborate across HS divisions, systems & technology, and survey operations to promote inclusive, consistent approaches
Contribute to Mathematica leadership; support company initiatives and facilitate dissemination of key information
Facilitate collaboration and collegiality within and across Mathematica

Lead projects and proposals

The executive director leads and works on client projects and proposals for roughly half of their time





Position Requirements:

A Masters or Doctorate degree public policy, social science, or other relevant discipline or a combination of equivalent education and work experience
Minimum of ten years of experience in research, consulting, or related fields

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $180,000 - $220,000. This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
