Responsibilities
Serves as a teacher and provides integrated programs in educational training to inmates. Will be required to teach programs such as the following; Literacy, General Educational Development (GED), and English-as-a-second language (ESL).
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide direct instruction in the classroom.
Plans and implements an individualized instructional program based on assessment data, knowledge of teaching strategies, learning styles, and availability of resources.
Must select appropriate individualized teaching techniques which may include individual guidance, peer tutoring, cooperative learning, media instruction, computerized instruction, large and small group instruction or behavior modification, etc.
Selects, orders and uses a wide diversity of instructional materials based on student needs and abilities including self-study, programmed materials, and media, etc.
Designs and develops curricula to meet the diverse learning needs of an incarcerated adult population.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
