The Pennington School seeks a teacher of Spanish for the 2023-24 academic year to teach all levels of Upper School Spanish, collaborate with colleagues to strengthen interdisciplinary instruction, and facilitate other experiences for student enrichment in the learning of Spanish language and culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Proven ability to teach all levels of high school Spanish
Embrace student-centered teaching practices and backward design in curriculum planning
Work to elicit individual excellence in every student, moving the student toward personal and collective goals in skills, habits of mind, and understanding
Favor a linguistic communicative approach to promote higher proficiency levels of students
Stay current in the academic field to ensure use of up-to-date pedagogy, current materials, and best practices
Promote Hispanic culture as a cornerstone of one's teaching practice
Demonstrate warmth, collegiality, humor, and industry in interactions with students, parents, and colleagues
Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to working in and fostering the Pennington School community

Essential Qualifications:

Degree in Spanish or related subject area; master's degree in Spanish preferred
Minimum of three years' proven experience teaching all levels of high school Spanish
Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish as well as English; native or near-native proficiency in Spanish
Experience with Hispanic cultures from work or study abroad and commitment to making culture a fundamental part of one's teaching practice.
Ability to work with a variety of learning styles
Experience integrating technology into the Spanish curriculum
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Enthusiasm for working with students in and out of the classroom
Desire to be an active member of a community that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion
Interest in a boarding school environment
A positive attitude, a growth mindset, and a sense of humor
