The Children's House of Bucks County is a Montessori Preschool that services ages 18 months to 6 years old. We are looking for a Full Time Assistant Teacher Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm to help us fulfil our mission of providing a well-rounded education through the Montessori philosophy to help shape independent, confident, and sensitive children who have a life-long love of learning. We are a nurturing and family-focused environment that focuses on the whole child as our program empowers our students to grow emotionally, socially, and physically in addition to the academic side of education. We are looking for individuals who are interested in growing with us in the next year or so by attending fully-paid Montessori training to become a Lead Teacher/Directress. This position is an almost year-round position that includes a summer program. Pay is commensurate with experience.
ROLE
The Assistant Teacher works with the Lead Teacher/Directress and other staff to help prepare the environment and provide supervision of children while empowering the students to be as independent as possible. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with children and is patient, open-minded, tactful, and a team player. We are also looking for a self-motivated individual who would be interested in transitioning to a Lead Teacher/Directress in the next year or two by attending fully-paid Montessori training.
QUALIFICATIONS
2 years experience working with children
Prior Montessori experience is a plus but is not required. Although Montessori experience is helpful, we are happy to train self-motivated, eager and receptive learners who love working with young children.
High School Diploma required at a minimum, but college or some college is preferred
Able to lift 35 pounds
Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and sit on the ground
Must have strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with children, parents, and other staff
Must have or be willing to obtain required clearances and complete trainings required by the state of Pennsylvania
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reliable, punctual, and regular in attendance
Observe and monitor childrens activities in the classroom and on the playground
Assist and support with guidelines & disciplines for each individual child
Communicate child/classroom observations to the Lead Teacher/Directress
Uses and demonstrates appropriate judgment and professional demeanor when dealing with children, parents, and co-workers
Assist the Lead Teacher/Directress in establishing and maintaining a peaceful environment by modeling respect and calm behavior
Help create and support a Montessori classroom culture, paying particular attention to the needs of the children and classroom climate
Participate in school events and staff in-service days
To perform activities, as directed by the Lead Teacher/Directress, such as: assist with drop off, pick up and nap transitions, assist with diaper changing and bathroom breaks
To help organize and maintain the classroom environment so that it is safe and healthy at all times
Maintain confidentiality, privacy, and ethics
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
