Job Summary: This position provides high quality educational assistance to students enrolled in Silvergates programs and serves as the lead teacher for the site. This is a seasonal ten-month position.

Job Functions and Duties:

1. Instruction

a. Works with the appropriate representatives from home school districts, (teacher(s), Special Services Department, etc) to assess the educational needs and the physical and learning capabilities of those students requiring instruction.

b. Meets with each assigned student per schedule to provide instruction

c. Assumes responsibility for obtaining textbooks and other teaching materials necessary for homebound instruction through the procedures established by Silvergate.

d. Assesses, on an ongoing basis, student strengths and weaknesses, and provides appropriate activities to address student needs.

2. Student Management

a. Facilitates a positive and orderly environment for learning.

b. Files written progress reports on each assigned student with their regular teachers.

c. Keeps, maintains, and files such reports and records as may be required, including attendance reports, case evaluations, and the like.

3. Instructional Planning

a. Coordinates, with the advice of the students regular teachers, an instructional program for each assigned student.

b. Coordinates with the pupils teachers and with the guidance department personnel the ongoing evaluation of the pupil including providing grades when appropriate.

4. Collaboration with Staff

a. Coordinates and communicates with school district personnel, therapists, teachers, and other members of the treatment team.

b. Serves as the liaison for/with the Director of Educational Programs in emergency situations.

c. Provides guidance and leadership for teaching staff.

d. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Holds a Bachelors Degree in Education
2. Possesses valid Maryland Teaching Certificate

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
