Position Summary
The Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for collaborating on the development, design, and delivery of various learning and development initiatives, including but not limited to curriculum design and implementation, facilitation, and evaluation.
Essential Functions
Utilize adult learning theory and its application to craft materials for written, electronic, and face-to-face learning.
Design learning plans and develop training aids such as operations manuals, e-learning content, and instructor-led activities.
Evaluate, recommend, and manage potential curriculum-related vendors for future training programs.
Communicate with clients, coworkers, and others in a timely, effective, and professional manner.
Maintain existing training modules.
Update written training materials to reinforce proper process methods.
Convert existing paper content to digital form (video, e-learning, etc.)
Make recommendations for curriculum improvements.
Deliver group instruction covering a range of topics.
Collaborate with different departments to conduct new-hire check-ins.
Support process changes and new process rollouts including train-the-trainer sessions.
Compile informative monthly reports for upper management regarding the status of learning and development initiatives.
Additional Functions
Provide project support as needed.
Manage the learning management system and other learning platforms.
Partner with external vendors and resources as needed.
Research educational resources.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in instructional design, learning, training, organizational development/psychology, or related field or equivalent experience.
Three years of experience with instructional design theory and implementation.
Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods and techniques.
Familiarity with learning management systems and web/cloud delivery tools.
Proficient facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
High comfort level with technology and ability to quickly learn and use new software applications.
Licenses and Certifications
APTD or CPTD certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of TruMark Financial operational policies and procedures, products and services, and training programs.
Expert knowledge of leadership and adult learning theories.
Expert knowledge of facilitation methods and techniques.
Strong knowledge of models and methods to evaluate the impact of learning and talent development solutions.
Skill in applying verbal, written, and nonverbal communication techniques.
High reasoning skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to present information using a variety of instructional techniques and teach others.
Experience with Articulate Storyline preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for long periods of time up to 75% of work hours.
Ability to use hands to grasp, handle or feel.
Ability to use computer keyboard and system to enter data and process information.
Ability to read a computer screen at a close distance.
Ability to read, talk clearly so that others understand, hear, comprehend the written and spoken word, and see.
Ability to use telephone to communicate with others.
Ability to use office equipment such as teller scanner, personal computer, telephone, mobile device, copier, etc.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. at least 10% of work hours.
Working Conditions
Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
Open floor work environment.
