YingHua International School is located in Kingston, NJ. We are International Baccalaureate PYP School and Chinese and English Bilingual School. We serve students from 18 months old to 8th grade. We are a relatively small school and working in a close-knit community founded on the ideals of International Baccalaureate pedagogy.
The school seeks highly motivated and dedicated IB PYP educators with a strong sense of responsibility and collaboration skills to assist and work with all teachers to implement IB curriculum in Chinese immersion and English-Chinese Dual language environment.
About The Role
The Director of Academics must have strong leadership abilities and an educational vision that is consistent with the school's mission. He or she should be familiar with or clearly committed to the schools efforts in maintaining the authorization for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) and obtaining authorization for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP).
The Director of Academics should have a minimum of 3 years school administration experience and have demonstrated leadership in the oversight of a school or school system with a balance of objective-based learning outcomes and creativity.
The Director of Academics, the instructional leader at the School, spearheads the development of the schools curriculum and faculty professional development. He or she is responsible for ensuring that YingHua International School is accomplishing its mission and vision through leadership of faculty, staff and implementation of the educational organization.
The Director of Academics leads teachers and staff in the development and on-going improvement of the academic program; guides teachers in the implementation of school-wide best practices, discipline-specific curricula and assessments, and school culture; and trains, supervises, evaluates all staff and develops the educational program and organization of the school.
The responsibilities of Director of Academics are:
Instructional Leadership/Professional Development

Supervises and evaluates the instructional program with special focus on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) and Middle Years Program (MYP) Accreditation and Implementation, with an emphasis on English and Chinese language acquisition.
Provides instructional leadership in successful continuation and improvement of existing teaching strategies and teaching frameworks with focus on the International Baccalaureate Program.
Performs classroom observation and follow-up conferences to monitor instructional materials.
Maintains and continues to develop professional expertise in areas of educational philosophies and practices (with special focus being on IB PYP and MYP), management skills and school site administration.
Provides assistance in selection of instructional materials.
Encourages and advises faculty and staff in their professional growth.
Maintains responsibility for staff development and conducts faculty meetings.

Community Engagement/Communication

Informs and coordinates parents and community members of educational programs with the administration team.
Develops effective communication tools with students, parents, community, and Board of Trustees.
Facilitates collaboration among teachers.
Act as primary spokesperson for the YingHua International School

Education and Training Requirements:

Required: Masters degree in Education or a related field
Required: Legal status to work in the USA
Required: Fluent in English and Chinese
Strongly preferred: Proficiency in the use of Student Information Systems and Google Suite
Strongly preferred: Experience teaching at an International Baccalaureate schools; IB PYP Coordinator and/or IB MYP Coordinator training experience
Preferred: Has experience teaching in bilingual schools or Chinese immersion schools; English and Chinese curriculum design for primary and secondary years
