JOB DESCRIPTION

LEAD TRAINER / INSTRUCTOR TRAINEE

Reports to: Director

Requisites:

  1. Background check with satisfactory results
  1. CPR & First Aid Certified
  1. Current USA Gymnastics Certified Instructor - Recreational Gymnastics

(U100: Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction)

  1. Current USA Gymnastics Developmental Teacher Certification
  2. Experience in working with young children
  3. Must be available to work at weekends.

PROGRAM DUTIES

Program Implementation

  1. Directs parents and children in program activities.

  1. Assures the safety of all program operations.

  1. Gives all cues for equipment and music support.

  1. Directs the timing of program activities.

  1. Delegates during program activities.

  1. Recommends advancement of participants.

  1. Interacts effectively with parents regarding the progress of their children.

Manner

  1. Sets the mood! Is excited! Is happy! Has fun!!!

  1. Knows parents and children by first name.

  1. Acknowledges each and every child and parent during free time.

Managerial Duties

  1. Assumes the duties of the Director when necessary.
  1. Keeps Director informed of the status of the children, parents, program, staff, activities, supplies, operations, and other significant events.
  1. Opens and closes the facility.
  2. Clean and disinfect equipment between classes.
  3. Assist in maintaining a "spotless" gym.


Supervisory Duties

  1. Trains Instructors and Assistants.

  1. Reviews program daily with Staff.

  1. Assigns program duties daily to Assistants.

  1. Supervises Assistants in their program duties.

Administrative Duties

  1. Ensures that all registration in own class is complete, waiting lists called, and money collected before next session begins.

  1. Phones continuing clients who don't show up for class on the day of registration so that we know what the client is doing for the session.

  1. Ensures that cleaning duties have been taken care of at lunch and after evening classes.

  1. Ensures that the entire gym smells good.

  1. Ensures that all bathroom, diaper, and promotional supplies (brochures) are well stocked.

DESK DUTIES

Manner

  1. Smiles a lot! Is caring.

  1. Acknowledges everyone who comes through the door.

  1. Initiates a caring conversation with people who "look like they need help."

  1. Effectively sells our regular program and birthday program.

  1. Maintains an orderly desk.

  1. Maintains an orderly waiting area.

Knowledge

  1. Knows everything about the Tumbles® Program including:

* Age groupings for each class

* Names for each class

* How we change our program weekly

* How we create a positive environment

* How many children are in each class

* How many instructors are in each class

* Why we maintain a non-competitive environment

* How we build self-esteem

Clerical

  1. Answers the phone (or delegates).

  1. Returns phone messages (or delegates).

  1. Answers information requests or questions (or delegates).
  2. Checks in and registers guests and make-ups.

  1. Receives and properly records and processes all payments.

  1. Assures the security of roll books, registration cards, etc.

  1. Processes mail.

  1. Maintains the inventory of desk supplies.

  1. Manages all birthday party supplies. Checks to see that everything is present when supplies are brought in.

Other

  1. Assists in facility maintenance as needed.

  1. Assists in program presentation.

  1. Handles salespersons and solicitations.

  1. Handles "strangers" in the facility.
