Overview:

Position #: 13556


Provides secretarial support to ensure maintenance of confidential patient information. Performs a variety of clerical activities to support department operations. Provides prompt, efficient reception support for the unit.


Responsibilities:

Creates and maintains all patients charts in compliance with specific department.
Ensures integrity of medical record, including patient identification on all chart forms. Maintains chart froms in correct placement in the chart behind the correct chart tab.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient records and information.
Initiates, maintains and files all patients charts. Closes patients charts and takes them to medical records and/or prepares the chart for scanning.
Copies records and other information as needed. Prepares charts for new patients.
Maintains forms and clerical supplies, and assists with maintenance of medical supplies.
Assists with unit charges as appropriate for specific unit needs.
Attends staff and committee meetings and takes minutes as requested.
Assists with the maintenance of departmental statistics.
Monitors all incoming and outgoing mail. Screens visitors and phone calls, answers questions and provides information.
Answers all telephone calls promptly and in a customer friendly manner. Takes accurate and complete messages.
Monitors communication in the reception and patient area to protect patient confidentiality.
Schedules patients appointments and maintains the schedule in a neat and orderly fashion.
Screens all patient registration forms for accuracy and insurance verification.


Requirements:


High school diploma or GED.
Two years of clerical, secretarial, office, or administrative experience.
Basic knowledge of secretarial support functions, office and department duties.
Microsoft Office experience including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Excellent internet searching skills.
Excellent organizational skills. Customer-focused demeanor.



Frequent physical demands include: Sitting, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Talk or Hear



Occasional physical demands include: Standing, Walking, Carry objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities.



Continuous physical demands include:



Lifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 10 lbs.



Sensory Requirements include: Accurate Near Vision, Accurate Far Vision, Color Discrimination, Minimal Depth Perception, Moderate Hearing
