ACCOUNTANT I
Reports to: Finance/Revenue Cycle Manager

Classification: Exempt Department: Finance

MAJOR FUNCTION:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing various accounting functions for the issuance of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal reporting requirements to achieve company goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Demonstrates effective communication, positive attitude, flexibility, multi-tasking, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
Utilizes accounting system, Medical and dental billing systems, prepares journal entries and demonstrates proficiency in excel
Supports finance team with assistance in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General

Ledger, reconciliations, month-end, year- end close and other tasks

Interfaces with Revenue Cycle team to assure integrity of reported revenue and accounts receivable
Analyzes monthly revenue and prepares realizable revenue journal entries to comply with the

FASB Revenue Recognition Standards(ASC606)

Records journal entries, reconciles general ledger accounts and exhibits financial analytical skills
Counts cash, records checks, records accounts receivable and ACH transactions
Reconciles different bank accounts and prepares supporting schedules
Makes copies of all checks, completes deposit slips, prepares and makes bank deposits
Preparation of cash forecasting schedules and supporting documents
Work closely with Finance/Revenue Cycle Manager to ensure accurate General Ledger and

Financial reporting

Assists in grant audits, general year-end audit and 401K audit
Maintains consistency and plays a vital role in migration to new accounting system and standardization of accounting procedures in Finance Department
Participates in cross functional training within the department
Demonstrates ability to keep up with multiple deadlines and project goals
Implements and maintains accounting procedures compliant with GAAP
Has an eye for detail and analytical approach in all tasks assigned
Willing and flexible to perform tasks and projects assigned by Finance/Revenue Cycle Manager and CFO
Exhibit zeal to improve organization and implement efficient procedures and processes

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs any additional duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Works on special projects as needed/assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree required in finance, accounting, or related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting professional practices and procedures.
Computer literate preferable experience with automated accounting software (MIP), spreadsheets and word processing, Excel and its functionality.
Experience in a public health care or community clinic setting & knowledge of fiscal administration as applied to health care operations, preferred.

PREREQUISITES FOR THE JOB:

Ability to perform detailed work with numerical data and to make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Computer literacy and proficiency.
Excellent writing skills with the ability to present high level data and information to senior level staff and external stakeholders.
Must be able to work independently and take initiative
Must be willing to take ownership of work deliverables to ensure assignments/projects are met in a timely fashion.
Ability to independently set and achieve goals.
Ability and willingness to meet critical deadlines
